Ben & Jerry's Does It, Should You?

Ben & Jerry's has announced it will be discontinuing its email marketing campaigns and focus their efforts on social media.  Their customers indicated they were losing interest in continuous emails.  B & J's concluded they were not building the relationship with their customers they wanted.

Those on the email list were invited to join the ice cream giant on Facebook (to date, there are 1.3 million fans) and Twitter, on which they have several profiles named after several of their flavors.  On each profile, there are thousands of followers.

Should you consider an addition to your marketing efforts?  Guess you'll have to weigh your options.
